Cyber Recon: My Life in Cyber Espionage and Ransomware Negotiation (Wiley, June 2025) grew out of a realization I had while running the threat actor engagement practice at GroupSense: we had found a very particular niche. I was spending much of my time talking directly with threat actors, negotiating with ransomware criminals, and navigating the psychological and operational complexity that comes with it.

This book is part science, part technology, part psychology, and part real-world war stories from that practice. Whether you are an experienced security professional, new to the industry, in law enforcement, shaping policy, or simply an executive trying to understand the threat landscape, there is something here for you.
